SO, HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PAINT A HOUSE?

It's not a trick question but the answer is tricky as there are so many variables when it comes to painting a house. What kind of house, 2 floors or 10 floors? What condition is it in? Does it need scaffolding? Is it spraywork? Does  the painting have to be done at night, over the holidays or weekends. The only way to find about costs is to get quotes from a painting company or two and then work out who is ripping you off.

Other factors that influence the cost of painting a house include feature walls, wallpapering, stripping walls, lining the walls and the amount of prepwork required to provide a good quality finish.

WHAT ABOUT THE PAINT? WHICH BRAND SHOULD I USE?

If you consider that most of the cost of painting a room or office is the labour rather than the paint materials, why would you bother to go cheap on the materials? You will only save about £50 and you will end up with paint that doesn't wear well, fades quickly and can't be washed. Our advice is to use premium brands with vinel emulsion for the walls and ceilings and eggeshell for the woodwork. That way you get a lovely finish and have walls than can take a bit of cleaning without removing the paint.
