VELUX LOFT CONVERSIONS
The Velux loft conversion is one of the simplest and cheapest ways to get more living space. No costly dormer, just add a few Velux windows and a staircase and you have the bare bones of a loft conversion. In most cases you won't need planning but you will need building regs.

DORMER LOFT CONVERSIONS
Easily the most popular type of loft conversion for a terraced property. By adding a dormer to the rear and Velux windows to the front you should be able to create 2 more bedrooms and a bathroom. Again, most dormer loft conversions don't require planning but you will need building regs approval for the build.

HIPPED DORMER LOFT CONVERSIONS
The hipped dormer loft conversion is ideal for semi-detached properties. By building up the side wall of the house and adding a dormer to the rear you should end up with some amazing space which will give you 2 decent bedrooms and a bathroom. This one requires planning approval and buiilding regs.

L-SHAPED LOFT CONVERSIONS
The l-shaped loft conversion is becoming increasingly popular and works best on period properties with a back addition. To get the l-shape you add a dormer to the rear of the main roof and then continue the dormer over the back addition. In some cases you may be able to add a dormer to most of the back addition making this kind of loft conversion one of the best as you effectively add a whole new floor to your property.

Easily the best type of loft conversion as you build up on the existing party walls and then fill in the rear with a big flat roof which will give you the the maximium amount of floor space. PLANNING / PARTY WALL AGREEMENTS / STRUCTURAL DESIGN
Whilst you may not need a planning application for your loft onversion (it depends on the design) you will need a party wall agreement with any adjoining property. You will also need a structural design and calculations for the build.
